Description
The hydroalcoholic solution containing 2% Chlorhexidine and 70% Ethanol is highly stable and demonstrates high antimicrobial efficacy.
This antiseptic is indicated for intermediate-level disinfection of surgical instruments and a wide range of medical devices through manual application within a short contact time. The product is intended for direct use, WITHOUT dilution and WITHOUT rinsing. It has been dermatologically tested, demonstrating 0 (zero) irritation.
Hydroalcoholic solutions of Chlorhexidine Digluconate exhibit bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity. Chlorhexidine remains stable at room temperature and within a pH range of 5 to 7. Extensive international literature supports that dermal absorption of chlorhexidine is minimal and that it provides a rapid onset of antimicrobial action. The presence of organic matter does not significantly impair its antimicrobial efficacy.
The antimicrobial mechanism involves disruption of microbial cell membranes and walls, leading to cell lysis. In addition, 70% ethyl alcohol enhances membrane disruption, resulting in a synergistic antimicrobial effect between chlorhexidine and ethanol.
Key advantages include rapid germicidal action and a prolonged residual effect, forming a persistent antimicrobial barrier (“chemical glove”) lasting approximately 5 to 6 hours.
In hydroalcoholic formulation, efficacy is enhanced against clinically relevant Gram-negative bacteria and, in particular, Gram-positive bacteria. The product is effective against both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 and viruses such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza virus, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), herpes simplex virus (HSV), and cytomegalovirus (CMV).
Chlorhexidine 2% is active against fungi, yeasts, and mycobacteria, achieving a biocidal reduction of 99.99% within 5 minutes of contact against Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella choleraesuis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Mycobacterium smegmatis, and Candida albicans, according to studies conducted using internationally recognized methodologies.

Instructions for use:
Manual processing of instruments:
Apply the product directly to previously cleaned instruments, ensuring full surface contact. Maintain a minimum contact time of 5 minutes. Allow excess solution to drain and air dry. Do not rinse. Rapid air drying.
Surface disinfection:
Apply the undiluted product using sterile gauze or a clean cloth, ensuring complete coverage. Maintain a minimum contact time of 5 minutes. Do not rinse. Allow to air dry.
Restrictions on use:
Do not mix with sodium hypochlorite solutions, povidone-iodine soaps, or mercurial compounds.
Storage:
Store in a controlled environment at temperatures not exceeding 25 °C and protected from moisture.
Method of inactivation and disposal:
The product may be discharged into sanitary sewage systems after dilution with running water, without causing harm to the system, or disposed of in accordance with applicable biosafety regulations. Empty containers should be rinsed with running water and disposed of as non-hazardous waste in compliance with local regulations.
